Supta-Garbhasana Other Names Supine Child with Spinal Rocking posture, Sleeping Child Posture, Sleep Baby Pose, Foetus Pose, Supt Bal Asan, Supta Bala Asana, Nidra Garbhasana, Neend Gharbha Asana, Sota Gharabh Asan Description This asana is a spinal rocking child pose. Because it looks like a child spinal rocking pose, that is why, it is called sputa-garbhasana. How to reach the stretch Sit in  Padmasana  and lie down on your back. Like kukkutasana take out the hands from in between the thighs and calf muscles. Tie the hands at the back. This can also be done by holding the neck or ears with the hands. How to release the stretch To release, Come back to the starting position of padmasana and relax. Benefits Stretches the lower back and hips. This is a good yoga position to relax in during fatigue. Caution Not for the persons who have the injury of back.

How to do Padmasana (Lotus Position)

Padma = Lotus,  asana  = posture or pose or position Pronounced : Pa-dah-maa-sun-aa Padmasana or Lotus position  is a cross-legged yoga posture which helps deepen meditation by calming the mind and alleviating various physical ailments. A regular practice of this posture aids in overall blossoming of the practitioner, just like a lotus; and hence the name Padmasana. In Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism, the Lotus pose is also known as  Vajra position. How to do Padmasana (Lotus Position) Sit on the floor or on a mat with legs stretched out in front of you while keeping the spine erect. Bend the right knee and place it on the left thigh. Make sure that the sole of the feet point upward and the heel is close to the abdomen. Now, repeat the same step with the other leg.
